He Wanted His Parrot To Talk. But He Never Expected It To Do THIS
Parrots are among the brightest species of birds on the planet and are clearly not simple “bird brains.” The vivid and smart birds have captured the hearts and imaginations of people all over the world. When most people think of parrots the thought that pops up in their head is of one sitting on a pirate’s shoulder, perhaps even sporting a matching eye patch.
While this famous picture has survived during history and culture, it does not do parrots any justice. They're so much more complex and fun than some old sea captain’s sidekick, and they need a lot of attention, training, and love to really flourish and be all that they can be. The lovely orange, white, and green feathered parrot in this clip is evidence of how dynamic and fun-loving parrots are.
The black-headed Caique, a parrot subspecies, understands how to get down and boogie when the music gets turned up. The bright small fellow dances an Irish jig just as good, if not even better than the expert River Dancers do! He jumps up and down, kicks, and pulls off some sweet high stepping moves to an Irish tune called “Emerald.” It is wonderful to observe this parrot's vigorous, hippity-hoppity show, and it is safe to say this parrot has one magnificent natural talent.
While parrots are quite known for their speaking skills, they can also be trained to do a number of other tricks. Many are trained to fly through hoops, retrieve stuff, sing on command, and even roller skate or ride a bicycle! They've excellent memories and recall skills, and with positive reinforcement, time, and commitment, they can learn all kinds of great tricks. Check out this one’s dance habit and you will see how impressive they truly are!
